If you are in the market for a tree, the Monterrey Oak is on the top of my list. Also known as the Mexican White Oak, Quercus polymorpha is a great native tree for San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Here's a little break down of what it has to offer:
~semi evergreen, holding leaves through most of the winter
~approximately 40'high x 30' wide at maturity
~considered one of the fastest growing oaks
~highly disease resistant
~large leathery leaves

Are these trees also resistant to oak wilt? I lost many trees to this horrible disease.
The Monterrey Oak is indeed disease resistant and makes a great planting in this area. Of course you want to be wary planting any oak in an infected area, but chances are best with this one.
